I Love To Read

Today we started the morning with an assembly for "I Love To Read" month. The mascot from Boston Pizza was there to greet us as we walked into the gym. Boston Pizza presented our school with a cheque for $300, based on all the reading charts that were collected from students.

Some older kids did a presentation based on a storybook about some aliens!

We practiced a lock down today. This will help us be ready and know what to do "just in case" we need to do a lockdown at school. In the fall, we practiced several fire drills, so we know what to do "just in case" there is a fire emergency at our school!

Mrs. Lowe led us through an activity about keeping your thoughts in your head when you are "thinking", and then using your words when you are using your "speaking" bubble.

Sharing time.... February starts with a /f/ sound, and so do these things!

REMINDER:

  • Tomorrow is WEAR A WORD DAY. This could be a shirt that has words on it, or write a word on a piece of making tape and stick it to your shirt!
  • BOOK SWAP day is on Friday. If you have some children's books at home that you no longer want to read, you can "swap" them with books that other kids have brought to school.  Bring books in any time this week - by Friday morning at the latest. You can swap books 1 for 1. That means... for every book you bring in, you can swap it for a book. (Example : 5 books brought in=trading for 5 books.)
  • Still looking for parents to come read to our class. Any volunteers? Please let me know!  Thank you

  1. Last night to celebrate I love to read month we went out to Boston pizza for dinner with the kids meal earned from the reading logs! It was a great night! The progress in learning to sound out word is incredible. Keep up the great work!
