Sorting

One of our little kinders easily put these letter candles in order to spell....

Close your eyes, and put the magnet on the clown's nose! (our birthday party game!)

These 2 were busy creating different sets... sorting by colour.... then putting one of each colour in each ice cream bowl....putting the number tiles in numerical order - and when they were counting the numbers I noticed that they had made a mistake and put two fours after the 7's.... but NO!  that was not the case at all. They told me that they didn't have a number "8"- so they figured out that since 4 and 4 makes 8, they would substitute two #4's to replace the 8!  I thought that was quite smart of them!!
You never know what discoveries might be made at "Discovery time".

Sharing Time...n is for..

Bring a Buddy Along

Baxter Bunny came to visit us today! He taught us to "Bring a Buddy along" when we go to different places. Mrs. Lowe taught the class a lesson about different situations and how we might respond by making sure we had a buddy along with us. For example, at home we can go use the bathroom all by ourselves, BUT - if we go to somewhere like a mall, we should have an adult go to the bathrooms with us (the adult can stand outside the door and wait for you. Don't go wander around the mall and head to the bathroom yourself!... Not safe!)

Open House

Every birthday party needs balloons and cupcakes!!  Today we made cupcakes to share with our families when they come to Open House this evening.  We learned some new vocabulary as we talked about the ingredients, and the process of making the cupcakes!!

the party continues...

These girls matched up the number of pom poms into the cupcake papers, and matched the number tiles, too. And they also figured out different ways to represent the number of pom-poms in each paper... ie. if you have a 9, then take 4 and add 5 more to make 9!

Happy Birthday!

Our newest dramatic play centre was officially opened today! We were:

  • using our imagination (not easy for everyone!)
  • using our communication skills (talking AND listening),
  • sharing and taking turns,
  • using our manners,
  • being respectful to others
  • looking at books about birthday parties
We:
  • made cupcakes/cakes out of playdough and put in some candles
  • used the phone to invite our friends over to a party
  • got dressed up for the party
  • used our writing skills to make invitations and birthday cards
  • practiced serving "cake" to the guest!
  • and so much more!!!

...and these girls built a castle, too!

REMINDER:  OPEN HOUSE on Thursday 4:30-7:00. Your child will have the opportunity to show you around our room and show you some things that he/she has been learning about at school. I will also be available to chat and discuss your child's progress, and answer any questions you may have.

If you prefer to come without your child to discuss a concern, please book an appointment for Friday.
Otherwise, I hope to see everyone on Thursday!
