Time Capsule

I came across this Covid-19  TIME CAPSULE  that was posted online. Thought I would mention it, in case you have not already seen it or done something similar. It will be an interesting memory for our kids when they are grown up and have kids and grandchildren of their own. I have printed one for my daughter to do, and thought you might like to take a look at it, too.

One of the activities I assigned on Seesaw recently was to spell some words using the letter board. Here are some of the words that 3 of the kids spelled.

Stevenson Parade

It was a great day for a parade!  ðŸ˜Ž Stevenson Staff (and some family members) and a few other guests drove up and down the streets in our school catchment area to say HELLO to our students and community members! We miss our students! It touched my heart to see so many people outside their homes - smiling, waving, saying HI, and holding signs. It was hard to take pictures and hold my sign, but I managed to snap a couple photos along the 90 minute parade drive!  My family enjoyed being in the parade and we couldn't stop smiling!!🥰     Missing my Room 7 Kinder friends, but happy to see so many of them today!

**************************************************
Today one of our SEESAW jobs was to explain some of the information that could be observed from this graph I made. Kids were encouraged to count, and to use math language as they explained what they noticed here. Then.... they were challenged to make their own graph, with little objects of their own. Check out Wyatt's graph below. ↓ He sorted & graphed his Ryan's World toys! Awesome!

Have a great weekend everyone!

WODB

Which one doesn't belong?  (WODB)  Can you explain the reason why you picked the one you did?  NOW.... can you think of a reason why maybe a different one might not belong in the group?  There is no right or wrong answer... you just need to explain/defend why you picked the one you did!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOMORROW.... the staff of Stevenson is going on a driving  parade around the community!! Come out onto your sidewalk and wave HELLO!

Chalk Art - Happy Earth Day

I hope everyone is enjoying their home learning packages!!  I received these photos of one of our Kinders making good use of the chalk she found in her bag! Thank you for sharing!! (

I saw this photo on the internet... check out the big "Snakes and Ladders game" these people made. Maybe you want to try this, too - or a smaller version would be interesting, too!

So nice to see you!!!

This afternoon my family went for a drive. I had offered to drop off a package of materials to my students, and many took me up on my offer. My husband offered to drive, and my daughter wanted to say "hello" to the kids, too.  So off we went!
We stopped by the homes of many of my Kindergarten students, dropped off their packages outside, and took a few photos along the way. Didn't get a picture of everyone, but here's some of them! It was so great to see all the kids we did get to see today. I miss seeing their smiling faces at school every day!

Here we are... all loaded up and ready to go! My helper is in the back seat!

And thanks to my husband, Rob, for driving me around!

I LOVE seeing what my little Kinder friends are up to at home. Besides keeping busy with the jobs I send them, they keep busy in so many other ways. Check this out....

Thanks to these kiddos for sharing these photos with me!

Art & Sharing Time

One family did this LOCKDOWN 2020 art project today!  One handprint for each person in their family. What a memory! Thanks to Colton's family for sharing this with us!

I have been so excited to see the work that my Kinders have been doing at home since we last gathered as a class at school. We are primarily using the SEESAW program to do activities at home. Everyone also received a package of paper materials to use at home, and some of the families have sent me photos of their kiddos doing that work, too. I also love seeing all the other things that the kids have been doing to keep busy at home, too! And of course, all the videos with smiling faces makes me smile, too!
"Sharing Time" has always been a favourite part of the day for students in Room 7. So we will continue to do this, but just do it a little differently. This week for Sharing Time.... we are sharing something that starts with a /R/ sounds.... as in rabbit and Rebecca!
I have enjoyed watching the videos that some of the Kinders sent me today through SEESAW. What a terrific job you did!  I hope to see the rest of you sharing your /R/ things at some point this week.  Thank you!

Word Scavenger Hunt

I hope everyone enjoyed SPRING BREAK!

I wanted to share what one family posted in their child's SEESAW journal today.  Colton and his mom made up their own word scavenger hunt. Each of them printed some words on little papers, and his mom hid them around the house. Then Colton had to go on a hunt and look for them!  When he found each word, he wrote them on this paper!  We have done this type of activity at school, and it was great to see the activity extended to his home, too.
I challenge everyone to make up their own word scavenger hunt at home, and post a picture of it to your SEESAW journal!

Happy Birthday to our Kinder-friend, David, who celebrated his 6th birthday during Spring Break!

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday dear David,
Happy Birthday to you!!
