Grocery store

Our new dramatic play centre is a hit!  The Grocery Store is open for business!

We are learning about the Primary Colours. Today we started a colour collage, that included the 3 primary colours.

Room 7 kids love to dance and move!  This is one of our class favourites... silly but fun! You can check it out at home, too. Go to..... Tooty ta!

Math Learning Carpet... There is a number missing between the 17 and the 19... What is it? And tell us how you knew that!

Sharing Time.... things that start with /M/

We ended the day/month with a "Reading Train". All classes met in the gym, and sat in lines, as if seated on a train. The older kids read to the younger kids. When the train whistle blew, one line moved up a person to read to a new partner!

Thank you very much to our special guest reader, Remy's mom, who came to read to our class yesterday!  We hope you'll come back and read to us again!

Star of the Week

This fellow is our Star of the Week! He was excited to share his "All About Me"  chart with our class.

These 3 have been busy printing numbers on the white board. They got up to 160 yesterday, and then one of them continued on to 200 after I took this photo!

Time to sort the cups into colours!

Respect

Richelle Scott, Indigenous Education Teacher stopped by today. She reviewed how the buffalo represented RESPECT in The Seven Teachings. Today she had a special box which contained a lot of parts of a buffalo. She taught us that long ago, the people used the parts of a buffalo to help with their daily living. We guessed what each part was used for by people long ago, and we got to touch the parts that she told us about.

Family Read In

Last Night, families were invited to stop by the school library for a Family Read-In Time-as part of "I Love to Read" month. It was nice to see some Room 7 families there, too!  The guest storyteller, Jamie O., entertained everyone with some of his stories!

Cozy up and Read-Pyjama day.... here are the Room 7 kids who wore their pj's today.

This fellow checked out a number puzzle at centre time

At sharing time, each person (known as the speaker) takes a turn sitting on the chair, and telling us about the item that he/she has brought. Kids are asked to prepare at least 3 things (or more!) to tell us about their item. Then the "audience" -who have been polite listeners while the speaker talks - gets a chance to ask 3 questions of the speaker.

SHARING TIME

Parents: If anyone is interested in coming to read a story to our class, please let me know. We'd LOVE to have you.  Room 7 kids LOVE listening to stories!
Have a great weekend!

Project 11

We started another new project today... and it is called  PROJECT 11.... and it is supported by the TRUE NORTH YOUTH FOUNDATION.  You can click here for more info.  Our lesson for today was introduced with the story Franklin's New Friend..... and the lesson helped students explore friendship promoting behaviours. We were also introduced to the MICK E. MOOSE mascot for all these lessons.  That was exciting!!  Did you know he wears a Winnipeg JETS jersey?!!

We had to read the behaviours on the little fish, then decide if the fish belonged in the HAPPY pond, or the SAD pond.

We are excited to see what the new lesson is about each week!

At recess time, we can send a couple kids downstairs to do yoga. We have 2 yoga passes per classroom, and these 2 wanted to use the YOGA passes this afternoon!

Gym Time....

REMINDER: From 5:30 - 6:30 --- everyone is invited to bring your family to school and read together for the I LOVE TO READ FAMILY READ time! There will be a special storyteller guest, and everyone will get to take home a free book, too!

TOMORROW is.... COZY UP and Read Day. All students are encouraged to wear their (clean/freshly washed) pyjamas to school!

Respect

Colour Sort.... some kids did a great job at sorting paint chips today!

cup tower...

Richelle Scott, Indigenous Education Teacher, talked to us about RESPECT today. THE Bison represents RESPECT.  The discussion was about respecting others and respecting your self. How do you show respect at recess? the class came up with lots of great examples of how to show self-respect and respect towards others!
Parents:  please ask your child to give some examples of how to show respect to yourself and others

Sharing Time.... /T/ is for....

TOMORROW is the Family Read-In for I Love to Read Month. Bring your family to school and read together from 5:30-6:30.

Happy Tuesday

We tried out some different looking dice today!!  They had lots of numbers on them! We rolled the die, then wrote down the number we got!

Richelle Scott read us this story today.

and then we did an activity... where we painted overlapping red and blue hearts!  The middle turned purple!
