The leaves are falling...

Everyone enjoyed this singable story today! "The leaves are Falling One by One"  but we sure weren't ready to see the snowflakes that were coming down at recess today!  

Today we cut out sets of apples and glued them onto the tree with the corresponding number

We had a visitor today. Ruth Hargrave read us a story and talked to us about topics including being responsible, doing our jobs, what being bored means, and what we can do to be happy!

It is hard to believe the end of September is almost here!  How did that happen??

Terry Fox

During Carpet Time, one of our Smart Board activities includes rolling a die (the blue one), identifying the number, then rolling the red die to find the matching numbers of dots. At first, we kept seeing the side of the die with 3 dots, and then when we rolled six dots, I pointed out how we could divide up the dots to 3 dots and 3 more dots. Then one boy said, "you mean 3 and 3 more makes 6?" !!!!!  

Our "Helper of the Day" was leading us in a cheer!  We love being cheerleaders!

Today we did a cut and paste activity.... cut, paste, colour, and match the squirrel's acorn to the boxes.

REMINDER: Students go outside for recess - rain or shine!  Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately to play outside everyday. 
Also, if your child has already used some clothes from his/her extra clothes bag at school, please remember to send an item to replace it.

Fall

We have had some interesting building going on with the wooden blocks and soft blocks!
 
 

• We are learning about FALL..... signs of fall, different colours of leaves, activities in the fall, weather, Fall songs,  etc. 
• We have also been learning about the parts of a tree (trunk, bark, roots, branches, leaves, crown)

We had a visit from some performers from the "Lights of the North" show.
This magician kept changing his face mask. We don't know how he did it!
 
And these performers kept us amazed and entertained, too!
 
 

Library Day

Today was library day. We listened to a story read by the Librarian, then we got to pick a book to sign out and bring home. (Please return it by next Day 2, in order that your child will be allowed to sign out another book on Library Day.)

         
We celebrated our fourth Kinder friend turning 5 years old this month! He brought in some cupcakes to share with the whole class. We made him a birthday book, and read our special birthday book in his honour!
         
DOORS.... Today we had a little chat about doors. We looked at a door from the inside and outside, and learned that the part around the door is called the door frame, and the part we touch to open/close a door is called the handle. We talked about how our hands and fingers should NEVER be anywhere near the frame of any door, or on the sides of a door. The only part we should touch is the handle, when we are opening or shutting the door.
