Seesaw

We did some measuring and counting using a non-standard unit. (Paper peppermints)

Everyone did an activity on the iPad today, using the Seesaw app.
The balance board is getting pretty easy for some students!
Parents:
  • Don't forget to check out the Seesaw app/website. I have posted a photo of the writing the kids did for their "Weekend News" job today. You will also see some of your child's other "jobs" that they have completed at school this past term.
  • You should have received an email from the division today. It is a survey which will help for future planning, should we all need to switch to Remote Learning/Teaching.

Storytelling

We had our second virtual visit from Jamie Olivier (Storyteller). Parents: Ask you child to tell you about the stories they heard this morning.

Today in Music Class, the Kinders were working on a special dance called Jungle Bells.
Today was our library day. Mr. Wesselius read a story to the class, and then the kids got to look at books. One student asked me today if they were allowed to read the books at home!!  YES! That is why the students are allowed to bring their books home.  Parents, please read your child's library book to them at home. Once, twice, or many times between today and the next Day 6.

Please return all library books on or before next Day 6.

Thank you to Mrs. Peterson for bringing her Star Wars Mr. Potato head to school for us to play with! It has been a big hit the past couple weeks.

Have a great weekend. Stay safe!

Paper chains

We were busy making green paper chains today. We used 2 shades of green, and created an  AB pattern as we made it!  Someone even made a chain that was REALLY long -- longer than him!!
We connected all the chains together... and made a tree!!

One of the kinders is celebrating his 5th birthday today! So we made a special birthday book for him!  We also read a special pop-up book that we only read on someone's birthday!
Sharing time... /N/ is for nickel, nerf gun, and nest!

Pattern block shapes

Today we had a virtual visitor. Mr. Jamie Oliviero, a storyteller, joined us and told us some stories about animals.  I think I heard a message about being a good friend in there!  (This is part of the SJASD  "The Integrated Arts" program.)
Everyone was busy making shapes and designs with the pattern blocks this morning.

Sharing Time... something that starts with a /N/ sound... (necklace)

hi

Today was the last day at Stevenson for one of our classmates. Her family is moving out of province and she won't be at Stevenson anymore. We thought of special things that we liked doing with her -- or would have liked doing with her -- and drew a picture. We put our pages together to make a book to send home with her. Hopefully when she looks at this book, it will put a smile on her face as she remembers her time in Room 9. Good-bye, Nowshin!
Today was our Library Day. Mr. Wesselius read us a story. Everyone is bringing a book home today. Please return it on or before the next Day 6.

                      Sharing Time

Teachers are working on Report Cards and Professional Development over the next few days.
See you back at school on the 25th!  Stay safe!

abc's

Today I wrote the number 4 on the Smart Board. One student came up and printed the number 5, then someone else came up and printed the number 3!   They did such a beautiful job printing these numbers!

REMINDER:

No school on Friday, Monday, or Tuesday.

Please send a  water bottle for your child (with a good lid that seals properly). The water fountains are not open at school. We are able to refill the bottles when needed.
