Pumpkin Exploration

Today we found a pumpkin with some assorted "items" around it. It was interesting to see how some kids used the "items" with the pumpkin. (they definitely had some different ideas that had never crossed Mrs. Grant's mind about how to use them!)

WOW!!  This young man is so very interested in writing! Today he copied all the letters of the alphabet and numbers to 10 on the white board!!

LIBRARY DAY...

5 Little Pumpkins sitting.....

Today we had "BUS RIDERSHIP". We learned some rules about being safe while using the school bus.
On Tuesday, October 31 students are invited to wear costumes to celebrate Halloween. Costumes may be worn in the morning, or brought to school in a bag (clearly labelled with your child's name). Please consider if your child can wear his/her outside clothing with the costume on for when it is recess time. If not, please send the costume in a bag and we will put our costumes on in the afternoon for our party. We will be having a costume parade in the gym at 1:00. Parents are welcome to attend.  (If students do not want to bring their costume to school, that is just fine, too!)
SoundBuster will be coming to our class the day after Halloween, so please make sure your child's SoundBuster bag gets put in his/her backpack Tuesday evening - ready to go for Wednesday!

REMINDER:  Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather every day. And please make sure your child has practiced dressing himself/herself. (ie. know how to put arms in sleeves without someone else holding up jacket, know which is the front of the ski/snow pants, know how to fix sleeves that have been pulled inside out, know how to put boots on your own feet (no laces) and pull your snow pants over top of the boots, know how to get your mittens on your hands, do  up own zipper - or at least try to do it up before asking for help, etc.) Also, you may want to consider having your child wear a neck warmer to pull up over their face - instead of a really long scarf.
** By the time most kids start Kindergarten, they will have had a lot of opportunities (hopefully) to dress themselves. Be assured that kids feel a sense of pride and independence when they can do it all by themselves!!  Thanks for your support.
Any questions, please ask.

5 Little Pumpkins

These puppeteers were putting on a little show at centre time today.

We know the story of "5 Little Pumpkins"... and today we did a sequencing cut & paste activity. A pumpkin seed is small, and then it grows, and grows and grows. (put the pumpkins in order from smallest to biggest)

We started off the morning with an assembly. We all sang "O Canada" together. Our room presented one of our favourite action songs that we sing every morning..... called "Hello Neighbour!"  Ask your child to sing it for you.

Important notice.... please read. Paper copy coming home in red folders today.
