HAPPY SPRING BREAK!

Happy Spring Break!
When you are out for a walk during this lovely spring weather, remember to follow the social distancing rules, but also take a glance at your neighbour's windows.... you never know who might be looking back at you.  Why don't you "Go on a Bear Hunt".  When you get home, read the book. If you don't have a copy, see the story online ..."We're Going on a Bear Hunt" by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury.

Fred Penner

I saw Fred Penner perform at a concert some time ago. He put on a great show and kept all the kids (and adults!) entertained for his whole show. I came across this post on Facebook. Fred Penner is live streaming his concert on Sunday at 2PM on Facebook and Instagram. Rebecca and I are going to tune in and enjoy the show. Maybe you want to check it out, too!

Zoo educators

Are you on Facebook? IF so, Check out the Facebook live activity with our local Assiniboine Park & Zoo. Starting today, they will be featuring some of the animals at the zoo. For the next couple weeks, check it out every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 1PM

Have you checked out the Cinncinati Zoo & Botannical Garden yet on Facebook?
They are also doing a Facebook Live post everyday at 2PM Winnipeg time. They are very interesting and the zookeepers feature different animals at the zoo during an approx. 20 min broadcast. Check it out! And in case you miss the live video, they also post them on their facebook page and You Tube. They have many animals we don't have at our local zoo.

....and Don't forget to log into SEESAW for activities for your child.

Happy Spring

Well today was our last day of school for this month, and into April. :(  The few kids at school today (4 in Room 7) enjoyed their day playing and hanging out with Mrs. Grant. I am going to miss these little munchkins and the ones I haven't seen since last week. I hope to connect with everyone on SEESAW and through email and this blog. I would love for you to email me pictures of your learning at home for me to include on the blog. Thank you to Sadie for already doing her first Seesaw homework job!!  I hope to see everyone else participate, too. I hope you find your home learning packages helpful. And I am going to miss the notes like this that I got today!! Looking forwards to seeing my dear Kinders again soon!  Take Care everyone!

This little author spent a lot of time making her own book today!

Thinking ahead to Easter and doing a puzzle

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Someone left little green foot prints in our class, and got out our St.Patrick's Day coins. Wonder who did that???
Last week we make this chart. "What Makes YOU feel lucky?"

We only had 5 kids in our class today, so our 3 friends from Room 8 joined us to try out the special magic powder that a leprechaun had left for us.

REMINDER to stop by our class anytime on Friday to pick up a package for your child to work on at home for the next little while.

Super Hero

The Kinders enjoying playing this letter game from the Starfall website. This is a great site to play at home too. To play Starfall - Click HERE  (Please note: It is free on my computer. I have not tried it on a phone/iPad/tablet, so not sure if it is also free on those devices.)

Almost everyone picked one of their favourite books to read to the rest of the class today! They did a terrific job!

Builder at work!

We spent a few minutes watching a live video from the Cincinnati Zoo. The zoo keepers were feeding a couple of hippos. We were amazed at what they looked like for real - as opposed to the pictures in books. We also noticed they had huge teeth - and really seemed to enjoy the lettuce they were eating. Check it out at home.... the zoo will be posting live videos on facebook every day at 2pm our time. Other zoos are doing similar things, too.

Here's what the Cincinnati Zoo website says.....
"The Home Safaris will start today at 3 p.m. EST. The first one will feature the world’s most famous hippo, Fiona.  To watch live, just visit the Zoo’s Facebook page at 3pm.  The Zoo will also post the safaris on its website and on YouTube so everyone can view."

REMINDER:
If your child will not be at school, please remember to enter the Absence online into the SCHOOL MESSENGER system.
Also, I am putting together a package of work for learning at home. This will be available for pick up at the end of the week. If this changes, I will use the REMIND text to let you know.

Colour Magic

We did an experiment today. We put coloured water in jars......One of the primary colours in each jars. We placed 3 empty jars in between each primary coloured jar, and placed a paper towel in each to connect them.

We noticed that after a short time, the 3 empty jars now had water in them.... and the water colours were the secondary colours!   It was magical... how the water climbed the paper towel and went into the empty jars!

adding white and black

We created some new tints and shades to the shamrock green colour, by adding white to green and black to green!

These 3 Kinders had so much fun matching the leprechaun pictures to the shamrocks with the corresponding beginning sounds. I even had the kids turn around and close their eyes while I mixed several of the cards up... and they quickly found the mistakes and corrected them!! We did this 3 times... I could not trick them!!

Race around the shamrock!

In a conversation with these 2 boys, I asked "Who is the librarian?", and they both pointed backwards and said "HIM!"
