One of our Discovery Time activities this week.... use a push pin to poke holes into letters. Hold it up to the light, and you'll see an outline of the letter. (This is a good activity to help with development of fine motor skills. It encourages kids to use 2 fingers to hold the push pin - just like holding writing tools with 2 fingers.)
Finding 6 dots on the smart board dice to match the numeral 6 -- and showing 2 different ways to make "six" with our fingers..... 5 and 1.... or 3 and 3 !
The girls were sorting the leaves by colour!
Kindergarten Focus Centres....
- playing a language development game with the SLP...
- Putting the correct number of little elastics on the popsicle sticks
-a story about colours that matches the colours on the world map...
- putting the correct number of beads on our pipe cleaner apple tree (which is standing up in the play-doh "earth")
I had an old storybook that was falling apart... so instead of throwing it into the recycle bin... I set it out and told anyone who was interested that they could cut out the sesame street pictures on the pages. (You can do this at home with old magazines and grocery store flyers. Helps develop cutting/gluing skills. Use the scissors and glue from your "Welcome to Kindergarten" bag!)
Library Today... Please return all library books by next Day 4 ---October 10th
