Dot Day

Did you make your mark on the world? International Dot Day..... is observed annually on September 15th since 2009.  International Dot Day is a holiday in which people of all ages are encouraged to harness their own creativity and embrace their own confidence as they make their mark on the world.

We painted dots, bingo-dabbed some dots, and played a numeracy games with dots. We also read the numbers on some big dots, and then put the dot numbers in numerical order. We read the THE DOT book, by Peter Reynolds.

Everyone made his/her own mark... by bingo dabbing the first letter of their names! We also practiced how to hold a crayon correctly and colouring inside the bubble shape of the first letter of our names!
Putting the numbers on these big dots in order!

We went to the library today. Mr. Wesselius read us a funny story, then everyone got to pick out a book to sign out and take home to read with their family. Everyone also got to choose a special book bag to keep their library book in. (Thank you to Mr. Wesselius's mom - who made a book bag for each student!).  Please read the book to your child, and return it in the book bag by next Tuesday, the 24th. We have library class every Day 4!

Just as we were getting ready to leave the library, the Fire Alarm went off!!  So we quickly headed outside with our book bags!  NO worries, though...., it was just a fire drill. Now we know what to do in case of a fire emergency!

REMINDER:   Tomorrow is Early Dismissal Day . All students dismissed at 3:10 PM. Please make arrangements to have your child picked up at 3:10 PM. (Kids who go to Discovery Daycare will be picked up by the Daycare Staff. Bus Students will catch the bus 1/2 hour earlier than usual.)
