Fake snow?

We ended our day by playing with some lovely scented "fake snow". Everyone had fun rubbing it on the tables...... and drawing shapes & pictures, printing their name, printing numbers. etc!  Lots of fun for sure!

Push pin snowmen

Today we used our pincer grip to hold push pins.... to punch holes into the outline of a snowman! They looked really great when we hung them in the window and the light was shining through the holes!

                           Finally, after 3 days of indoor recess... we got to go outside today!

Social Skills

In Kindergarten, while we work and play, we are also developing our social skills. Social skills are something that everyone - even adults- need to learn in order to be successful in life. These skills include... 

• getting along with others, 
• sharing, 
• taking turns, 
• using kind words, 
• showing respect to others, 
• developing strategies for dealing with conflict, 
• understanding body language and facial expressions, 
• negotiating, 
• etc. The list goes on!!! 

Today 3 kids were playing Snakes and Ladders. One child said to the others..."It doesn't matter who goes first, it just matters that we have fun!" Hmmm... What a great idea!

We are learning about Tally Marks. Another way to represent numbers!

Today we had our second classmate celebrating her 6th Birthday. So we all made a special picture to put in a Birthday Book for her!

Write Around the Room

 Write Around the Room ... The Kinders went on a search around the classroom looking for "snowballs" that had sight words written on them. They had to copy some of the words onto their paper. What good detectives they were finding and reading the words!

Oh no!!  These sentences about the snowman got all mixed up!  We have to put them back in the correct order!  (We looked for clues. Sentences start with an uppercase or CAPITAL letter, and the word with the period should go at the end of the sentence.)

Star of the Week

Presenting.... our "Star of the Week!"

He entertained us with his stories.

                                    One of our jobs today was to roll a die, identify the number of dots on the die, then find a matching die on our paper. Our goal: quickly identify the number of dots on the die without actually counting (this is called "subitizing")... and matching two that are the same.

Make It 10

 Here are a few photos taken yesterday. This is a math activity that each student did with Ms. Janz (Educational Assistant). The game was to identify "how many more?" did you need to make 10. There are many different ways to make 10. The Kinder kids continue to explore different ways to make numbers up  to 10.

It was library day today! Please be sure to read and return your library book on or before next Day 6.
