Math Language

Everyone in the class has been assessed on a variety of math skills this month. This includes the kids knowledge of....
  • counting (forwards to.... and backwards from 10)
  • identifying numbers
  • matching numerals to sets of objects
  • identifying how many dots on a die (subitizing)
  • patterns
  • math language (does your child use comparative and positional vocabulary --- ie. smaller, larger, more, less, same, beside, between, behind, in front of, over, under, inside, outside, on top, beside, next to)
  • and more! .....
Re: counting.......There are up to 31 days in each month. Can your child count up to 31?  or even higher? If not, practice counting with your child when you are climbing stairs, walking down the sidewalk, getting ready for bed, waiting in line, or anytime!! Count, count, count!

** This child is demonstrating that baby bear jumped over papa bear.

This young man was doing a terrific job copying numbers onto the White Board!

Today we had a couple fire drills for everyone in the building!  Everyone did a great job remembering where our designated meeting spot was outside.

Yesterday we learned about this app called "Welcome to Kindergarten" and today we had a chance to try it out on the iPads.  If you haven't already tried it.....you can download it now for free in the App Store for iOS devices, or in the Google Play store for the Android version. This free app was named as one of iTunes Top 50 Early Learning apps in May.
