Bus Ridership

Today we had Bus Ridership. We learned about riding a bus safely. We also got to practice exiting out of the back door, in case there is ever an emergency when we are on a school bus.

Please make sure your child wears a hat to school every day, and brings a refillable water bottle. We will be going on several walks over the next few weeks.

Reminder to send in ZOO permission forms and $3 as soon as possible.

Cartoon Self-portraits

If you came to the "Celebration of the Arts" last week, you will have seen these drawings!  The kids did a terrific job of drawing a cartoon picture of themselves!

Today was our last library class. Mrs. Wood read us a story, and we had time to look at books, but we did not sign out any books today. Mrs. Wood is going to be starting to do an inventory in the library. We will continue to borrow books from our home reading bin for a couple more weeks.

red/white Puzzle blocks are very challenging!

Keep or Speak?

The lesson for the Kids in the Know (click here) program today centred around secrets. Which secrets are OK to keep?.... and which secrets do we need to speak to an adult we trust?

Kids in the Know

Ms. Amaral did a lesson with our class today -- as part of the Kids In The Know program. She reviewed body parts with us, and we also talked about private parts and their names. She reminded kids that the parts of our bodies that we cover with our underwear or bathing suits are private.

We cut out some clothes to glue onto our paper person.

We made a rhyming wheel, to go with the Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme.

A good display of teamwork... these two worked together to create a very long mural!

Reminder:  Students at Stevenson go outside for recess --- rain or shine!  Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for outdoor play. Also, please make sure your child has a change of clothes at school. Some kids needed to change socks/pants 3 times today!

One of our classmates celebrated a birthday today, and brought in cupcakes to share with everyone!

Long weekend! See you on Tuesday!

Humpty Dumpty

"Humpty Dumpty  sat on the wall....."  Why did he go up there? How come he fell off? Could he be fixed?  Our Humpty today was a real egg. He fell of the wall - and cracked!!!
(Some of us had a taste of a hard boiled egg, and those who tried it liked it!!)

whack a mole- find the next number and "whack the mole"

Art

These boys were busy building this long road today!

We made our own paper (by recycling paper) at the Children's Museum last Friday. It took a few days to dry, but it was ready to be used today. We practiced writing on it using different writing tools. We tried using a pencil, crayon, and markers. We noticed that darker coloured  markers worked best!

The Children's Museum

We had SO much fun at the Children's Museum today. We kept busy the whole time, and lots of smiles all around! I took lots of photos so you could have a sneak peak into what the children were up to today. Thank you very much to Rylan's dad for helping supervise on this field trip.

We spent the last part of our afternoon at the museum by learning about the paper making process. We got involved in making our own paper, too!

Once we got back to school, we did Sharing Time, had a couple fire drills, and enjoyed having a bit of time to spend at centres.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL MOTHER'S, GRANDMAS AND AUNTIES.
WE HOPE YOU HAVE A SPECIAL DAY. The kinders have learned a couple special songs to sing to you. Remind them to sing them to you. We hope you like the special gift they brought home for you, too.
