Word detectives and pirates!

One of the themes in our Science Curriculum is "paper". We have also been learning about the 3 R's - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. After all, it is Earth Day on April 22nd!
Today we did an activity that involved  paper and recycling. We each looked at a page from the newspaper and pretended to be word detectives, as we found and circled words that we knew how to read.  We even found some little words hiding in bigger words! Then we made a pirate hat out of that newspaper!!
