Here's the name of a song we sing during our "Carpet Time" routine each morning. Ask your child to sing it to you! Have a great weekend..... and consider leaving us a comment on the blog. Thanks!
Today everyone at Stevenson headed outside to run around the field, in support of Terry Fox Day!! We had some speedy runners, but Mrs. Grant was able to stop a few kids to snap their photo. Thank you to everyone in Room 7 who brought in money to support this cause. Our class brought in $25 for the cause.
...being letter detectives and searching for letters in magazines and catalogues..,, then cutting them out and gluing them onto the ABC chart! This is how it looked when we were done!!! We also talked about ways to colour pictures --- we put a happy face under the best ways!
Then we practiced our new skills....
Today we read Robert Munsch's story of "WE SHARE EVERYTHING". After the story, we put on our thinking caps, and made a chart of things that we could share at school, and things that we shouldn't share at school. This is what the class came up with. Ask your child to tell you about our discussion.
CENTRE TIME.... We finally got the "lining up" thing figured out!!! (it's not as easy as you might think!) Now we are all lined up ready to go outside for recess.
Everyone was excited and interested to try out our new centre today. It is called "Marble Race". Lots of designs being created to discover the best ways to get the marbles to race down the structure. We tried out this new game on the Smartboard today. You can try it at home, too. Just go to the following link....ABC Puzzle It is Monday...so we all took turns sharing/telling our "weekend news". Then we tried drawing a picture and writing a story to tell about the news we had shared.
Today we went for a walk to a nearby park. We have been learning about the changes in trees in fall, and observed these changes on our walk. At the park, we practiced our turn-taking skills, and team-work skills. We put our big muscles to use, too! Along the way, we also learned about checking for traffic before crossing the road!
We wanted to check out how the "bark" on these trees felt. We were able to name all the parts of the tree once we got back to the school yard, and we even noticed that some of the roots were poking out of the grass!!
