Gingerbread Men adventure

After reading many different versions of the Gingerbread Man story over the past week, we were so excited to find some real gingerbread cookies in our class. Mrs. Grant said we would eat them in the afternoon. However, when we came in from lunch time recess, we discovered that they had disappeared!!!  They had some kind of magical powers, and ran out of our room. We think they heard Mrs. Grant tell the boys and girls that they were going to eat them after lunch, so they ran out of our classroom!!!
But they did leave us a clue as to where they had gone... and the clue led us to the library!  Mr. W. told us, yes, he had seen them, but he told them that food is not allowed to be in the library, so they left a note and took off!!
The clue took us to the office. Ms. Nagam said she had not seen them, they must have stopped by when she stepped out of the office.... but they did leave a clue, she said.

Off we went to the principal's office. Again, all we found was another clue. No ginger bread crumbs here, either!
Next we headed to the lunchroom.... and you guessed it... another clue.  But this one was encouraging... we guessed they might have gone back to our classroom!
YEAH!!!!  We found the gingerbread men cookies... and we quickly nibbled them all up before they could escape again!!   YUMMY!!!

Dentist

Has your child ever been to the dentist?
Today we had a visit from the Education Coordinator from the KIDS DENTAL clinic.
She taught us about the importance of taking care of our teeth and how to brush them. She taught us a rhyme about how to brush... "up like the flowers, down like the rain, back and forth like a choo-choo train." She said brushing, flossing, eating healthy, and regular visits to the dentist will help get rid of the sugar bugs that lead to cavities (holes in our teeth!) We all got a chance to use the big teeth and toothbrush to practice brushing. She sent us all home with a new toothbrush!!!

Write around the room

Today we read about the adventures of the Gingerbread Girl. We admired how smart she was!!  We also compared this story to the Gingerbread Boy stories we had already read.

One of the favourite activities in our room is called "Write Around the Room". The boys and girls enjoy being detectives and walking around the room to find various words to copy from our environment. Some of the words they can read, and some are words that they have spotted in our room, but may not be able to read. That is o.k. Everyone is getting practice using writing tools, printing or learning to print letters in a recognizable manner, and finding words they may/may not already be able to read. We also have to differentiate between what is a word/number/letter. A super easy activity to do at home, too!
