We had indoor recess today (-28 or colder) -- but please make sure your child is prepared to go outside to play -- by dressing appropriately for the weather. Please ensure your child has a hat/touque and a scarf or neck warmer to keep their face warm. Warm and waterproof mitts are also essential.

A Star, a Storyteller, and a Juggler

Our "Star of the Week" did a wonderful job telling us all about herself and sharing her "All About Me Robot" poster.
-----------
This morning, we had a visitor as part of "The Integrated Arts" program. Mrs. Leigh-Anne Kehler will be coming to our class three times this week. We are exploring the "Seven Teachings" and the animals associated with it through drama and play.
Today we learned that beaver showed WISDOM when he built a lodge to prepare for the rain. To make the connection, Mrs. Kehler asked the kids how they get ready for school?
She also told us the story of the lone wolf who learned HUMILITY when he couldn't make it on his own so he returned to his pack. From this we learned we need each other to be successful.

This afternoon our school had a special assembly.... to watch an awesome juggler, named Robin Chestnut.

Star of the Week & a baby visit

Our Star of the Week did a great job telling us all about himself!
Baby Elias and his mom came to visit us today (as part of the "Roots of Empathy" program). We noticed some new things that he could do this month that he could not do on his visit last month. It was very exciting to see the changes!

NO snow...... yet!!!

Star of the Week

Our "Star of the "Week" did a terrific job colouring and filling in her "All About Me" poster!  She shared her poster and photos and told us all about her stuffy puppy!  Well done!
Around the room at centre time....

She said, "Look! I made a stop sign!"  and yes, it said STOP on it!!! Another new sight word for her reading and writing vocabulary!

Star of the Week

Our Star of the Week shared his poster and photos yesterday. Today we did a shared writing activity that was all about him!!
These 2 sorted colours by making a rainbow out of them. They informed me that the blue at the bottom of the magnet board was the clouds, and the other half of the rainbow (the right side) is also hiding behind a cloud (you just can't see it!)
and then....he took a photo of their rainbow work, and wanted to post it on Instagram....  you can also check out his picture/writing on Instagram at mrsgrantsclass  or find it on the right side of this blog.
These 3 were using their imaginations and said they were.... a fire-fighter superhero, a firefighter dragon, and a knight!
and look who said that she had connected the primary colours in the lego!  We are finding primary colours everywhere!

Star of the Week

Our Star of the Week.... told us all about himself!  We also did a shared writing activity that was all about him... and we had fun being word detectives and finding the different words in the story!
Thank you to this parent for coming in to read to our class this morning. The boys and girls in room 7 LOVE books by Mo Willems about piggy and elephant. Thank you for reading this one to us. We hadn't read that one!

We have been exploring colour combinations and what happens when colours get mixed with each other. These kids were using the colour paddles and holding them up to the light to see how the colours changed when they were placed together.

These fellows wanted to play a game of Crazy 8 today!
After Mr. W. read us an interesting story in the library, the boys and girls got to choose a book to read and then sign out to take home for a week.

   Sharing Time....
