We did a little activity called "Mice in the cage!" First we made cages using blocks, and we pretended to be the mice. We needed 7 mice, and we had to put some mice in each cage. There was a big cage and a smaller cage. Then we tried it with some little plastic animals, and a paper that had 2 cages on it. We had to decide how many mice to put in each cage. We saw...... 6 mice plus 1, 5 + 2, 4+3 and 7+0. We noticed there were several ways to divide up the mice (meaning several ways to make 7!)
Then we had to represent our thinking....by drawing the mice onto the paper!
