Halloween Patterns

Today was a pattern kind of day. We made patterns on the Smart Board, patterns with Halloween erasers, and did a cut and paste Halloween pictures pattern activity. 

Sharing Time today... something that is yellow.  Next week, students are to bring something that is brown. Students who have their turn on Fridays may bring in something brown on any other day, since there is no school on Friday.

 

First thing this morning, we had school pictures!!

Sponge Painting Patterns

Today we used some Halloween shaped sponges to make some patterns. A popular pattern was the ABABAB pattern.

When we looked at our calendar today, we decided to count down the number of days until Halloween. It is coming soon and excitement is already in the air!  We started doing some Halloween activities today. We learned a song about pumpkins, and these girls were reading a Halloween book on the Smart Board using the reading sticks. We also put on our "thinking caps" and brainstormed some words that we associate with Halloween. 

  Someone noticed that Mrs. Grant wrote the word Halloween in Halloween colours and also in a colour pattern!!

It was a beautiful fall day.... (plus 19 degrees celsius by this afternoon.) It was a nice change from the other days that we needed a touque and mitts to play outside.

Happy Thanksgiving

A special turkey...   Enjoy your Thanksgiving Weekend!

     Everyone got to choose a new book during library period today.

   Sharing time..... something that is green! And 2 boys even wore their green shirts!!!

OPEN HOUSE this Saturday, Oct. 11th 

from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. Your family might like to go check it out!!

Walk to School Day

Students and families were invited to meet at the Rod's football field before school this morning to walk together for "Walk to School Day".  (October is International Walk to School Month.)

  When we arrived at school, we assembled outside and sang O'Canada together before heading inside to our classrooms.

We are thankful for....

We have been learning about Thanksgiving this week. We have read stories about different things people are thankful for, and have been discussing things we are thankful for. Today we made a tree, and everyone contributed a leaf by sharing something they are thankful for. We also realized that many of us are thankful for many of the same things!!!   (i.e. food, family)

Feathers on a turkey.... One of our jobs today was to read the number on the turkey, and then give him that many feathers!

   This young man was playing at block centre, and said "Look, I made the letter I" .
