Kids In The Know

Mrs. Macdonell (Resource Teacher) came to talk to us this afternoon. She read a story, and talked to us about KEEP and SPEAK secrets. The kids learned the difference between these 2 kinds of secrets. She also talked to the kids about private body parts and how they are private and other people shouldn't be touching them.(ie. If someone is hosting a surprise birthday party, that is a KEEP secret. The secret will come to an end on the day of the party.... BUT... if someone asks you to do something that makes you uncomfortable, or asks to see your private parts and says it is a secret and you shouldn't tell anyone... then that is a SPEAK secret. You need to tell an adult you trust about this.) This is all part of the Kids In the Know program (click on the link for more info.)

She also stressed the importance of kids knowing their own personal information (phone number, address) and the name of their parents (other than just calling them mom/dad)

The kids were also reminded.... IF asked to go, SHOUT NO!!!!

Stevenson is having some visitors from the Calvary Place Carehome come to our school tomorrow. Ms. Rempel (Music Teacher) has been practicing with all students -- who will be performing some type of number for our guests from the Carehome.
Parents are also welcome to come and see the students from Stevenson perform a short program. Students from Room 7 are excited to sing a song for all the visitors.

Everyone is invited to stop by The Lyric Theatre on Wednesday evening. Some of the older students from Stevenson will be performing on the stage. (PLEASE NOTE: Kindergarten students are NOT performing, but are welcome to come see other students perform.)
