Richelle, the SJASD Indigenous Educator, taught us about talking sticks today. We were familiar with the idea - because we already use a ball (with a Canada flag on it) to pass around when we sit in a circle -- to help us know whose turn it is to talk. Everyone got a turn to hold the talking stick and tell us whatever they wanted. Then everyone got to choose their own talking stick, and we got to paint them. Next week we will be decorating them.
