Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day !!!

A special song for all mothers...

We each painted a pretty picture on a canvas. A special gift for MOM!

Here are the final products for the clay making activities we did in April!  Our little robins, sitting on eggs in a nest!

Friday Mission

Today we discovered another secret mission!  The note said we had to decode a secret mission...by using water colours to help us read it! After we decoded the message, then we had to complete the mission.

Mrs. Macdonnel (Resource Teacher) came to our room to talk to us more about personal safety as part of the Kids in the know program (click for more info)

Today we discovered some spy stuff in our room. We had to make sure that we were able to be real spys - not impostors -- so we had to scan our fingerprint on the iPad to ensure we were able to help with any upcoming missions. And there were some TOP SECRET Missions for us to do. One mission note asked us if we could help find "Waldo".... so  we did!!   We also had to search a handprint and look for familiar words that were hiding. And of course, every spy needs some official I.D. - so we had to put our fingerprint on our identification card!

I SPY...

We like to read and write in Kindergarten!  This is what one little fellow independently wrote during centre time when he was using the Smart Board.  He even drew a picture of himself playing on the Smart Board.
("This week I played on the SmartBoard. It was fun!")
Today we used our "I SPY" sticks to find things around the room. Kids were finding letters, numbers, shapes, and patterns!! We had some good little detectives!

Playing kindergarten Yahtzee with our grade 4/5 buddies. The Kinders had fun teaching their buddies how to play. (One buddy was even overheard saying that this was almost as fun as Minecraft!!)

Wavin' Flag

Today everyone met outside first thing in the morning to see the song "Wavin' Flag". It is in recognition of MUSIC MONDAY.... so stayed tuned for the video of us singing... it will be posted on Monday.

We read this story today.  We compared ourselves to the trains... and about all the choices we can make. We had a good discussion about always trying - not giving up, being nice and treating everyone respectfully, and more! It is a good read for all ages. Check it out!

Keep or Speak Secrets

If a child keeps a birthday present a secret or surprise until she gives it to his/her friend/sibling, is that OKAY??
If someone wants to touch your private parts (the parts covered by your bathing suit) or asks you to touch his/her private areas.. is that OKAY ??
Today Mrs. Macdonell (Resource teacher) talked to us about secrets. Some secrets are okay to keep for a while but they will end and they will make someone happy when we tell them. These are called keep secrets......But some secrets are NOT okay at all! These are called speak secrets. These secrets make you feel uncomfortable or confused. Children are encouraged to tell, tell, tell!!!  Tell a safe adult!!!!
This important information is part of the Kids In The Know program being taught at school. Click on the link for more information.
Today we are bringing home our little paper books.
