One more day 'til Halloween!

... and the excitement is rising!

This was our math problem today.
 
The kids worked in pairs, to build the stairs, and then show different ways they could decorate using 5 pumpkins.  Here's some of the options...(we are learning different ways to build numbers)..... and for the number 5, some of the options were.....  4 and 1 make 5, 3 and 2 make 5, 1 and 4 make 5, 2 and 1 and 2 make 5, 2 and 3 make 5, and 5 and zero make 5!

Wear your costume to school!  But be prepared to go outside for recess!

Mrs. Lowe (K Resource teacher and VP) did a "Kids in the Know" lesson with our class today. The lesson was on labelling body parts with the correct words - on a cartoon girl picture and a boy picture.

Change in plans......The Halloween Parade will be in the morning on Thursday! Students can come to school in their costumes, and be ready for the parade. Please make sure your child has regular clothes to change into.... and a reminder that kids go outside for recess. Make sure your child has appropriate clothes to wear outside -with or without the costume.

We made a chart of some things we know about pumpkins...

• We were missing a spiderman sweater at the end of the day. Please check your child's backpack to make sure your child didn't pack it up by accident! (and return it to school. Thanks!)
• We will be having a Halloween party on Thursday afternoon. Students are welcome to bring their costumes to school. Please ensure your child's name is on his/her costume, so we can help make sure it makes it home for trick or treating time! We will be putting on costumes after lunch, and participating in a school wide costume parade.

Skeletons

One of our Discovery Time activities today was designing a skeleton using Q-Tips for the bones!

Yesterday we made the colour orange... and today we cut out our 5 little pumpkins and glued them in order of smallest to largest... and drew a fence for them to sit on.
